Main aims of SWIPPA
The main goal of SWIPPA is to promote the transfer of knowledge between research, foundational knowledge, and further training in the field of positive psychology in Switzerland and the application in practice. Accordingly, the SWIPPA has set the following goals:
- Promotion of research and scientifically grounded (evidence-based) applications of positive psychology in Switzerland
- Promotion of the cooperation between members of the SWIPPA and various existing instances in the field of positive psychology within the country (e.g., universities, associations) and abroad (e.g., International Positive Psychology Association, IPPA)
- The development and the fostering of collaboration between different areas within positive psychology, in particular the establishing of a network of researchers at different universities in Switzerland and abroad, as well as the exchange of research and practice
- Establishment of a program for the further education of both, academics, and practitioners, as well as the long-term goal of designing a postgraduate education program that meets the criteria of the Federation of Swiss Psychologists further education scheme (FSP) and university regulations
- Establishment of a network of multidisciplinary research on positive psychology topics through the inclusion of neighboring disciplines
- To facilitate and encourage the exchange of knowledge regarding current research and developments in the field of positive psychology between the members of various language regions in Switzerland. SWIPPA aims at the dissemination and publication of findings from positive psychology through publications, meetings, courses, and similar initiatives
- To promote the transfer of knowledge in the general public through the establishment of further education courses for lay people and active media relations
- Creating platforms with information on positive psychology that serve the general public, but also the exchange between members of SWIPPA
